Prof. Nicholas Samaras, representing the INVEST Alliance, participated in the European University Alliances roundtable discussion, which took place on February 9, 2025, at the French Institute of Thessaloniki during the annual French Universities Fair.

The event brought together representatives from various European University Alliances, including those with French and Northern Greek partner institutions. The discussion focused on key topics such as:

  • The evaluation of the first years of the European University Alliances: strengths and challenges.
  • Possible future models for these structures, including legal entities and European degrees.
  • The creation of a multi-tiered European university system.
  • The impact of European Alliances on the development of research projects.

The roundtable also provided an opportunity for the French Embassy and the French Institute to define a strategic approach to supporting academic and scientific cooperation, with a focus on strengthening European alliances involving French partners.
