INVEST RECTORS’ ASSEMBLY OPENS IN JOENSUU, FINLAND
The INVEST Alliance opened the first day of its Rectors’ Assembly, Steering Committee and Local Coordinators meetings in Joensuu, Finland, hosted by Karelia University of Applied Sciences from 2 to 4 June 2026.
The first day was dedicated to the Rectors’ Assembly, bringing together representatives of the INVEST partner universities to reflect on the Alliance’s progress, key achievements and future strategic direction.
The programme included presentations by the local coordinators on how key work package achievements are transforming partner universities and how each institution contributes to the further development of INVEST. The discussion also addressed important strategic issues, including the progress towards a legal entity, the final set of key performance indicators, and the future development of the Alliance.
The Rectors’ Assembly focused on several core areas of the INVEST strategy, including governance, education, mobility, research, digitalisation and sustainability. These discussions are directly connected with the Alliance’s ambition to deepen institutional cooperation, strengthen joint educational and research activities, support student and staff mobility, and further embed INVEST outputs into partner university structures.
The first day concluded with discussions on the future development of INVEST and the role of the Alliance in supporting regional transformation, innovation and sustainable higher education across Europe.
The meetings continue in Joensuu with the Steering Committee, stakeholder and student reflections, and the Local Coordinators’ meeting.
