The University of Córdoba celebrated International Student Day this Monday, an event designed to celebrate cultural diversity and the academic and personal growth opportunities made possible by international mobility programs.

This academic year, more than 600 students from Erasmus Program countries, representing over 15 nations, have chosen the University of Córdoba for their international studies. Italy contributes the largest number of students, with a total of 183, followed by France with 64, and Germany with 52. Regarding mobility from non-associated countries or those with bilateral agreements, UCO is hosting 200 students from more than 25 countries, including Lebanon, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Egypt, Benin, Taiwan, South Korea, the Philippines, as well as Canada and North America. Additionally, under the Spanish university exchange program (SICUE), UCO is welcoming 150 national students this year.

Strategic Alliances for Global Impact

Javier Ávila, Director of Internationalization, emphasized the great importance of the INVEST European University Alliance in UCO’s internationalization strategy. He highlighted the advantages of being part of an alliance of seven European universities and what that means for the creation of joint undergraduate and master’s degrees, the vast mobility opportunities, and the new prospects available to all our students.

An Open and Accessible University

The Rector explained that UCO’s internationalization process is reflected not only in the classrooms but also in the cultural exchange, research opportunities, and experiences that international students will enjoy during their stay in Córdoba. “We are proud to be an open and accessible university for students from all over the world, and our mission is to provide you with the tools and support necessary to make the most of this experience.”

The Rector was accompanied by UCO’s Vice-Rector for Internationalization, Luna Santos Roldán, and the Director General for Internationalization and Mobility Programs, Javier Ávila López. Both encouraged students to actively participate in university life, share their experiences, and take full advantage of the opportunities offered by the University of Córdoba.
